Vertical Shipping Container Connection

Twist locks should be used on shipping containers when stacking in vertical stacks to ensure one container cannot slip off the top of another. This method of connection allows empty shipping containers to be stacked up to 16 high.

All shipping containers should be restrained by four twist locks. Twist locks and corner castings together form a standardised rotating connector for safely connecting shipping containers. All ISO shipping containers should be equipped with corner castings designed to interlock with mating twist locks, for lifting, restraining or creating a solid wall of containers that are locked together vertically.
